PRIVACY POLICY

The Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation respects your privacy. We do not collect personal information from you unless you offer it.

Our intention is to provide an informative tool for those interested in spinal cord injury research, clinical and active lifestyle issues related to paralysis, the Reeve Foundation Quality of Life grants, information about Foundation activities, and to allow our supporters to become more involved in our mission. We recognize that visitors to our site may be concerned about the information they provide to us and how we treat that information.

"Cookies"
The Foundation uses "cookies", which are codes that allow us to recognize your computer when you visit our website. We collect and store only anonymous information about your computer and mode of Internet access, including the name of the domain from which you access the Internet, the date and time you access our site, how long you stayed on our site, and the Internet address that brought you to our site. We track this information to improve the usefulness, value, and navigation of our website.

The Foundation uses cookies to identify members (those who register with our website and are given a password). This allows access to areas of our website and certain publications without requesting a sign-in form each and every time.

Online Donations
The Reeve Foundation takes very seriously the protection of sensitive materials regarding online donations. The Foundation works with vendors to secure transactions according to industry standards using generally agreed upon methods of encryption and encoding. Personal information is stored in a database with reasonable protections in place against privacy breaches using multiple "firewalls." Any vendors affiliated with the Foundation are held to industry-standard practices including, without limitation, confidentiality.

Personal Information
The Foundation collects personal information when you register with us to make a donation or become a member of the website. We may ask for information such as your name, address, phone number, fax number, and email address. We reserve the right to email you for fundraising efforts unless you expressly request not to be emailed. Our emails are never sent unsolicited. Unsubscribe information can be found at the bottom of every email sent.

Any information collected by the Christopher and Dana Reeve Paralysis Resource Center is also covered by this policy.

Mailing List
The Foundation provides a separate online form to join our mailing list. The information we collect includes: name, address, e-mail address, and phone number. This information is securely stored internally and accessed only when we correspond with our mailing list periodically during the year, either via e-mail or regular mail.

Please contact us if you would like to correct or change the personal information you have previously provided. To protect your privacy and security, we will take certain steps to verify your identity before granting access to your information or making corrections. Callers will be asked specific questions, including full name, address, and phone number in order to verify their identity and protect the privacy of the Foundation's donors and members of its mailing list.

Opt-Out
If you do not want to receive emails from us, please let us know by sending your request via e-mail to information@christopherreeve.org. If you do not want to receive postal mail from us call (800-225-0292) or write the Foundation at the address below.

The Foundation will never rent, trade or sell your e-mail address. However, we may on occasion share your name and postal address with other organizations unless you opt-out. If you would prefer that your name and postal address not be shared with other organizations, simply call (800-225-0292) or write the Foundation at the address below.

Paralysis Resource Center
Personally identifiable information collected by the Paralysis Resource Center (PRC) may be shared with third parties, such as the Paralysis Task Force and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Because PRC is administered by the Reeve Foundation, and receives funding and other services from parties such as the CDC, we - by necessity - must share information with our partners. If you do not wish for PRC to share your information, you may opt out of the sharing, but this might mean that you are unable to take advantage of services on our web site. Companies with whom we do share your information are prohibited from using that information for any purpose other than for a limited stated purpose. If you wish to opt-out of the PRC sharing your information please email infospecialist@ChristopherReeve.org.
